THE COMPANY – OUR BUSINESS
NiPhu Ltd is a R&D company commercialising the abstraction of Phosphorus and Nitrogen as a waste recovery for ecological and economic benefit to benefit the global environment and food.
Recovery nutrients from septage will make countries self sufficient for the essential chemicals reducing international transport and reducing the impact of partially treated wastewater entering the acquifer.
For the Utilities the reduction of these chemicals within the treatment process offers the benefit of ensuring a cost reduction in maintenance. Initial international research work in the Philippines, which included Niphu’s partners found that an enhanced biological phosphorus removal and recovery system with downstream photobioreactor (PBR) reduces the impact by 15 % for global warming and 9% for marine eutrophication compared to the conventional wastewater treatment system (Fang et al., 2016). Without the removal of these two chemicals it has been shown that a plant’s operational efficiency begins to reduce and ultimately will be severely compromised. The Nitrogen and Phosphorus combine into Struvite and scale, and crystal rock buildup in pipes, valves and pumps will slow the flow of material.
The mission of Niphu Ltd is to work with municipalities in developing countries, oil companies and waste companies to deliver an infrastructure to gain economic and environmental advantage of septage, create sustainable jobs and access to low cost fertiliser for farmers .
